Garden Projects

Manna @ The Jones Center

Located on the south side of the Youth Strategies Skills Center at the Jones Center in Springdale, this site is where our cattle panel green houses are currently located. It is also where most of our irrigation training takes place as well as all of our potting and project staging. This site is a partnership with Archer Learning Center. This will be the future site of a major garden project started back in 2012. The vision for this project, created entirely by Youth Strategies students with the assistance of numerous area professionals, will be a gardening destination in NW Arkansas serving as a training location for students and adults alike.  The design panels the students use for their presentation are below.

Manna @ McCollough Drive   &   Springdale Community Garden

Located at the end of McCollough Drive and adjacent to Springdale Community Garden, Manna @McCollough Drive is a site where students can produce food in volume. A raised row method is utilized at this location teaching students how to manage rain run off. Students also help maintain Springdale Community Garden. With our new partnership with Feed Communities and the Deep Roots Initiative, we will be able to increase the number of training classes offered, increase our tool library, increase gardening space, build a covered teaching area, and promote our efforts in the media. This site will also partner with local Master Gardeners put their wisdom along side our youth’s energy and enthusiasm.

Produce from this location will be used to provide a nutritional food source for our students and their families. Produce will also go to our partners at The Samaritan Center in Springdale as well as House of Hope to provide fresh nutritious meals for people in the community who ar ein need. Finally, produce from this site will be sold to the community at large at the Mill Street Market.

Springdale Schools Gardens

Our students have partnered with several schools to help build raised bed gardens on school property. JO Kelly Middle School’s EAST program is our newest partner. We will be providing support to their project during the summer months when school is not in session. We want to partner with any school who needs this type of support during those volunteer lean summer months.
